В 2017 году Кирилл Серебренников, Алексей Малобродский, Юрий Итин и Софья Апфельбаум были арестованы. Им вменяют статью 159 часть 4 УК РФ – "Мошенничество, совершённое организованной группой лиц". Они обвиняются в хищении средств, выделенных государством на организацию и проведение инновационного проекта "Платформа" – уникального события в культурной жизни России. Проект был запущен по личному поручению бывшего Президента РФ Дмитрия Медведева в 2011 году. Кирилл Серебренников был художественным руководителем проекта, Юрий Итин – генеральным директором автономной некоммерческой организации "Седьмая студия", Алексей Малобродский – генеральным продюсером "Платформы", а Софья Апфельбаум возглавляла Департамент государственной поддержки искусства Министерства культуры РФ. В течение 4 лет на "Винзаводе" ставились спектакли, проходили выставки, мастер-классы и концерты. Кураторами проекта были ведущие современные композиторы, хореографы, театральные деятели.
Судебное следствие длилось более 2 лет. Обвинение базируется только на показаниях бывшего бухгалтера «Седьмой студии» Нины Масляевой. Согласно её версии, все средства, которые она обналичивала, были похищены обвиняемыми. По словам обвиняемых, эти деньги были израсходованы на мероприятия "Платформы". В феврале 2019 года по поручению судьи Ирины Аккуратовой была проведена комплексная экспертиза материалов дела, видеозаписей мероприятий "Платформы" и других доказательств, представленных защитой. Эксперты оценили мероприятия "Платформы", и стало ясно, что, если бы обвиняемые украли 133 миллиона рублей, на оставшиеся средства они не смогли бы организовать проект. В сентябре 2019 года судья Ирина Аккуратова вернула дело в прокуратуру для устранения противоречий, однако Московский городской суд отменил её решение и направил дело на новое рассмотрение.
Новая судья, Олеся Менделеева, заподозрила экспертов в необъективности в связи с их знакомством с обвиняемыми. В театральных кругах Москвы трудно найти профессионалов, которые не знали бы Кирилла Серебренникова, одного из самых известных современных режиссёров России. По инициативе судьи Менделеевой была проведена новая экспертиза. Адвокаты нашли в ней множество грубых нарушений, но эта экспертиза может послужить доказательством хищений. Обвинение требует вынести приговор на основании именно этой экспертизы.
Кроме того, обвинение просило суд лишить обвиняемых права занимать должность в течение трех лет и обязать их удовлетворить иск Министерства культуры о возмещении ущерба в размере 128 миллионов рублей. Приговор будет вынесен в 11.00 26 июня.
26 июня будет вынесен приговор по делу "Седьмой студии". Обвинение запрашивает для режиссёра Кирилла Серебренникова 6 лет, 5 лет – для Алексея Малобродского, по 4 года – для Софьи Апфельбаум и Юрия Итина.

In 2017, Kirill Serebrennikov, Alexey Malobrodsky, Yuri Itin and Sofya Apfelbaum were arrested. They are charged with article 159 of part 4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - “The fraud committed by an organized group of persons”. They are accused of embezzlement of funds allocated by the state for organizing and conducting the innovative project "Platform" - a unique event in the Russian cultural life. The project was launched on a personal behalf of the former President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in 2011. Kirill Serebrennikov was the art director of the project, Yuri Itin was the general director of the autonomous non-profit organization Seventh Studio, Alexey Malobrodsky was the general producer of the Platform, and Sofya Apfelbaum headed the Department of State Support for Art of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. For 4 years, performances were staged at the "Vinzavod", also there were exhibitions, master classes and concerts. The curators of the project were leading contemporary composers, choreographers, and theater figures.
The judicial investigation was continuing during more than 2 years. The charge is based only on the testimony of the former accountant of the "Seventh Studio" Nina Maslyaeva. According to her version, all the funds she cashed were stolen by the accused. According to the accused, this money was spent on the events of the Platform. In February 2019, the Judge Irina Akkuratova initiated a comprehensive examination of the case materials, videos of the Platform’s events and other evidence presented by the defense was carried out. Experts evaluated the Platform’s activities, and it became clear that if the accused stole 133 million rubles, they could not have organized the project with the remaining funds. In September 2019, Judge Irina Akkuratova returned the case to the prosecutor's office to resolve the contradictions, however, the Moscow City Court quashed her decision and sent the case back for new consideration.
The new judge, Olesya Mendeleeva, suspected experts of bias in connection with their acquaintance with the accused. But in the theatral Moscow it is difficult to find professionals who would not know Kirill Serebrennikov, one of the most famous contemporary directors in Russia. At the initiative of Judge Mendeleeva there was a new examination. Lawyers found a lot of gross violations in it, but this examination can serve as evidence of the theft. The prosecution requires a sentence based on this particular examination.
In addition, the prosecution asked the court to deprive the defendants of the right to hold office for three years and to make them satisfy the Ministry’s of Culture claim for the compensation of 128 million rubles. The verdict and the sentence will be announced at 11 a.m. on June 26.
