Сегодня, 25 марта исполняется не только год нашему журналу, но и Максим Зенин, танцовщик Мариинского театра, празднует свой День рождения. Мы рады выпустить интервью с этим молодым и очень ярким представителем нового поколения Петербургского балета именно в этот день, и от души желаем ему двигаться только вперед в профессиональном и личностном плане, крепкого здоровья и, обязательно, партий мечты.
Максим, давай начнём с самого начала. Расскажи как ты пришёл к балету. Была ли это твоя идея?
Если честно, я не очень хорошо помню как к этому пришло. Впервые я познакомился с танцем в 4 года. Думаю, это было совместное решение с моими родителями. Это был хореографический ансамбль при доме культуры в моем родном городе Волгограде. А позже, через пару лет, меня отдали в Хореографическую школу Искусств. И после этого, спустя 5 лет, я попал в академию имени А. Я. Вагановой. Могу сказать точно, я был в восторге от того, чем занимаюсь! Мне, безусловно, очень нравилось танцевать.
АРБ им. А. Я. Вагановой - святая святых русского балета. Что лично для тебя значит быть выпускником Академии?
Академия для меня связанна с разными событиями и эмоциями. В первую очередь, хочется сказать, что мне необыкновенно повезло. Ведь помимо знаний и опыта, которые я приобрёл в Альма-матер, я получил очень высокий статус, мне кажется, к выпускникам Вагановской академии относятся по-особенному. Наверное, неспроста, ведь это и правда святая святых русского балета.
Была ли работа в Мариинском мечтой после выпуска?
Я, если честно, никогда не думал, что буду работать в России, особенно в Мариинском театре. Во первых, с детства я посещал разные стажировки при театрах в Европе (Германия, Англия, Монако). Я знакомился с репертуаром, с обстановкой в театрах, а так же с обстановкой в стране, в которой находился. Разумеется, у меня формировались мысли насчёт выбора театра.
Во вторых, я много не знал о репертуаре и проектах Мариинского театра (смеется).
Учась в академии, ты участвуешь в определенных классических спектаклях, где заняты дети. Собственно и посещаешь ты эти же спектакли в качестве зрителя. На уроках мы проходим классическое наследие. В результате, складывается впечатление, что Мариинский театр очень консервативен в репертуаре и развитии, но это, к счастью, оказалось не так.
В Мариинском твой репертуар включает в себя очень разные партии: классические, модерн, абсолютно новаторскую хореографию. В отличие от многих компаний, балет Мариинского исполняет все время разные спектакли. Сложно ли перестраиваться с одного балета на другой, когда на неделе их может быть несколько?
Нет, не сложно. Иногда хочется больше времени на подготовку спектакля, но такой ритм учит тебя быть более собранным и продуктивным. Мне кажется, артистам Мариинки повезло, у нас нет шанса устать от какой либо партии благодаря нашему разнообразному репертуару.
Есть ли у тебя любимый балет из репертуара Мариинского, в котором ты уже участвовал или ещё нет?
Ой, их много. Это и классические, и современные балеты. И каждый по-своему нравится. В каждом балете ты можешь раскрыться по-разному.
И немного о партиях мечты…
Да, такие есть. Если говорить о заглавных партиях, то это и Ромео и Джульетта, и Лебединое озеро, и Баядерка и так далее, очень много загадал себе (смеется). Очень хотел бы станцевать балеты легендарных современных хореографов, таких как Уильям Форсайт, Уэйн МакГрегор, Охад Нахарин... и это, разумеется, далеко не весь список.
Что для тебя Петербург? Кажется, что ты сроднился с городом…
Я обожаю Петербург! Здесь я чувствую себя дома. Я считаю, что это один из самых красивых городов мира! А если тут ещё и солнце…
Будучи разносторонним человеком, ты работаешь в качестве модели, интересуешься искусством, посещаешь выставки, концерты... Интересен ли для тебя синтез балета с живописью, модой, кино?
Да, безусловно! Я не хочу замыкаться на чем-то одном! Разумеется, балет для меня первичен, но иногда я нахожу источники вдохновения и в других отраслях.
Как ты можешь охарактеризовать свой стиль жизни?
Ох, очень трудный вопрос. Наверное, я — карьерист, который хочет взять от жизни по максимуму (смеется).
С кем из исторических личностей прошлого или настоящего тебе бы хотелось пообщаться, если бы была возможность?
Это приличная компания людей (улыбается). Если взять по одному человеку из разных отраслей, то: Михаил Барышников, Ив Сен Лоран, Фредди Меркьюри, Сальвадор Дали.

Я стопроцентный меломан: от рока до классической музыки.
Что ты смотришь?
Назову три любимых фильма: «Мемуары гейши», «Принцесса Монако», «Шоколад».

Недавно закончил читать «Игры, в которые играют люди» Эрика Берна.
Что ты носишь?
Ох, тут куча всего (смеется). Ношу все, что понравится!

Кем из мира балета ты восхищаешься?
Восхищаюсь людьми, которые наслаждаются своей профессией, это сразу видно на сцене.
Куда ты отправишься в путешествие, когда будет возможность?
Я отправлюсь туда, где есть море! И очень-очень жарко!
Как ты отдыхаешь?
По-разному. Иногда организм может подсказать лучше всего, что нужно в данный момент, будь то активные виды развлечений или постельный режим (смеется).

Today, on March 25, not only La Notte Magazine is one year old, but Maxim Zenin, dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre, is celebrating his birthday. We are pleased to release the interview with this young and very bright dancer of the new generation of the St. Petersburg´s ballet on this very day, and we sincerely wish him to move forward professionally and personally, good health and, of course, the dream roles.
Maxim, let's start from the very beginning. Tell please, how did you come to ballet? Was this your idea?
To be honest, I don't remember very well how it came to this. I first got acquainted with dance when I was 4 years old. I think it was a joint decision with my parents. I became a part of a choreographic ensemble at the House of Culture in my hometown of Volgograd. And later, after a few years, I was sent to the Choreographic School of Arts. And after that, 5 years later, I went to the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. I can say for sure, I was delighted with what I was doing! I certainly enjoyed dancing very much.
The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet is the holy of holies of Russian ballet. What does it mean to you personally to be a graduate of the Academy?
The Academy for me is associated with different events and emotions. First of all, I would like to say that I am extremely lucky. Indeed, in addition to the knowledge and experience that I acquired at Alma Mater, I got a very high status, it seems to me that the graduates of the Vaganova Academy are treated in a special way. Probably not without reason, because it really is the holy of holies of Russian ballet.
Was working at the Mariinsky a dream after graduation?
To be honest, I had never thought that I would work in Russia, especially at the Mariinsky. Firstly, since childhood I have attended various internships at theatres in Europe (Germany, England, Monaco). I got acquainted with the repertoire, with the situation in theatres, as well as with the situation in the country in which I was. Of course, my thoughts were forming about the choice of the theatre.
Secondly, I didn't know much about the repertoire and projects of the Mariinsky (laughs).
During the years in Academy you participate in certain classical performances where children are involved. Actually, you attend the same performances as a spectator. In the classroom, we studied the classic legacy. As a result, there is the impression that the Mariinsky Ballet is very conservative in its repertoire and development, but this, fortunately, was not true.
At the Mariinsky, your repertoire includes very different parts: classical, modern, absolutely innovative choreography. Unlike many companies, the Mariinsky performs different ballets all the same time. Is it difficult to change from one ballet to another when there may be several of them per one week?
No, it’s not difficult. Sometimes you want more time to prepare a performance, but this rhythm teaches you to be more productive. It seems to me that the Mariinsky artists are very lucky, we have no chance to get tired of any part thanks to our diverse repertoire.
Do you have a favorite ballet from the Mariinsky repertoire, in which you have already participated or not yet?
Oh, there are a lot of them. These are both classical and modern ballets. And I like each of them it in its own way. In each ballet you can reveal yourself in different ways.
And a little about the dream roles...
Yes, there are. If we talk about the title roles, then these are Romeo and Juliet, and Swan Lake, and La Bayadere, and so on, I dream about a lot of them (laughs). I would like very much to dance the ballets of the legendary contemporary choreographers such as William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Ohad Naharin... and this, of course, is not the whole list.
What is St. Petersburg for you? It seems that the city has become very yours...
I love St. Petersburg! I feel at home here. I believe this is one of the most beautiful cities in the world! And if there is also the sun here...
Being a versatile person, you work as a fashion model, you are interested in art, you visit exhibitions, concerts... Are you interested in the synthesis of ballet with painting, fashion, cinema?
Yes, definitely! I do not want to be limited to one thing! Of course, ballet is primary for me, but sometimes I find sources of inspiration in other fields as well.
How would you describe your lifestyle?
Oh, it’s a very difficult question. I guess I'm a careerist who wants to get the most out of life (laughs).
With whom of the historical figures of the past or present would you like to communicate, if you had the opportunity?
This is a decent group of people (smiles). If we take one person from different industries, they are Mikhail Baryshnikov, Yves Saint Laurent, Freddie Mercury, Salvador Dali.

Which ballet dancer do you admire?
I admire people who enjoy their profession, it is immediately evident on the stage.
Where will you travel when you have the opportunity?
I will go where the sea is! And where it’s very, very hot!
How do you relax?
Differently. Sometimes the body can tell the best what is needed at the moment, whether it be active forms of entertainment or bed rest (laughs).
